🪞 CATOPTROMANCY
Greek catoptromancy (Dionysian mirror rites)
A silver chalice filled to the brim with wine
WHAT IS SEEN
Your face reflected in the wine's surface is crowned with vine leaves. As you watch, the wine's color deepens from ruby to nearly black.
INTERPRETATION
Transformation is already underway and accelerating. The vine crown is joy; the darkening is depth. What began as celebration is becoming something more serious and more valuable. Do not resist the deepening.
RITUAL CONTEXT
In the Dionysian mysteries, initiates gazed into wine-filled mirrors and saw themselves transformed. The reflection in wine was considered more truthful than the reflection in water — wine reveals what sobriety conceals.
