Business success, revenge, protection from witchcraft, love problems. Like Maximón, a morally ambiguous figure who answers all petitions regardless of intent.
Traditional Offerings
Rum, beer, cigars, candles (especially black), money, tortillas. His effigy is seated in a chair wearing a Ladino suit and hat. Cigarettes are placed in his mouth.
Status with the Church
Actively discouraged by the Catholic Church in Guatemala. Some priests refuse sacraments to known devotees. The cult persists openly in several highland towns.
