The river does not stop because the rock is in the way. The root does not stop because the soil is hard. Irete says: press forward. The obstacle is the path, not an obstruction to it.
INTERPRETATION
Resistance is real but not permanent. The path is uphill, the wind is in your face, and the terrain is unfamiliar. Continue anyway. Irete does not promise ease — it promises that the effort is worth making.
