GALLU (FATE DEMON)
Namtar
Gallu (fate demon)
From the Tablets
The vizier of the underworld goddess Ereshkigal, Namtar is the personification of disease and death decreed by fate. His name means 'that which cuts' or 'fate-cutter.' He commands sixty diseases, each one a demon under his authority, and he delivers the final verdict of the underworld court.
Protective Ritual
Appeal to Ereshkigal herself through offerings sent to the underworld. The exorcist may negotiate with Namtar through incantation, offering a substitute life to satisfy the debt.
